Out of all of Rihanna's singles that I have heard, I don't find "SOS" to be very strong. With some of the background sampled from Soft Cell's "Tainted Love", and with random clapping sounds, the backbeat isn't extremely strong. Also: though Rihanna's vocals are as beautiful and strong as ever, this song doesn't really show off very much of her range or her vocal skill.

Though the chorus is extremely catchy, I find myself more annoyed than glad when this song is stuck in my head. If you haven't heard this song before, you're not really missing out on too much.
