Honestly, I didn't know that Duffy was Welsh, did you? Her voice always carried a slight Southern twang, in my opinion, but we'll put that aside.
I remember disliking this song the first time I heard it, but Duffy's voice has grown on me over time. Even so, her slightly harsh vocals can grate on me sometimes, but everything else-the guitar, the backup vocals-blend together to make this a beautifully well-written song.
